As UK culture shifts ever more towards activity-based socialising, Social Playlist was launched to create a discovery platform for this emerging hospitality trend.

Operated by Bowling Vision, who have been clients of DeType for a number of years, their far reaching connections in the market gave the platform a head start in its initial launch.

Starting with a detailed spec document and a number of meetings to iron out initial functionality, we got into the first creation phase.

With initial wireframes covering user journey in place, we got started with the build. Driven by a custom WordPress build from the ground up, the platform is super lean, and super easy to work with on the back end. A component driven approach enables the platform to scale with ease and with minimal development input, and data importing made light work of the initial population.

As we see the competitive socialising sector expand and change from the traditional bowling industry that we grew up in, it’s important for us to support the growth of this trend as it moves from the cities into the towns. A consumer facing platform gives us opportunities to distribute new services and technology as the sector matures.

An extensive icon set was created to signpost and filter activities, and advanced filtering of venues brings rapid results, all driven by a mobile-first approach to offer a super slick user experience.

With Phases 1 and 2 successfully deployed, we’re working hard behind the scenes to develop the next phase on the site, as the numbers continue to grow.
