Practical Intelligence

Practical Intelligence is a specialist AI and automation consultancy designed for the “real world” of operations.

Founded by Ric Welsby, an industry veteran with 25 years in the trenches of corporate operations, the business moves beyond the typical AI hype to deliver tangible, bottom-line results.
They don’t believe in replacing systems for the sake of it; they layer intelligent, off-the-shelf technologies over existing workflows to reduce costs, improve performance, and allow businesses to scale without the headache of infinite hiring. The bridge between “we’ve always done it this way” and “we didn’t know it could be this efficient.”

Branding, Web design, Web development

The challenge:

The client possessed deep operational expertise and a highly credible service offering, but didn’t yet have a digital presence to reflect it. To scale and attract the right kind of business, they needed to transform their website from a static brochure into a high-performing sales tool and lead-generation engine.

To achieve this, the new digital strategy had to overcome several distinct hurdles:

Bridging the Credibility gap:

They needed a platform where they could confidently direct prospects to show exactly how they solve complex business problems, shifting the focus from “cool” tech features to data security and practical application.

Cutting through the noise:

The market was saturated with jargon-heavy digital marketing pitches. The challenge was to position the client as a team with real “operational scars” — cutting through the fluff with absolute clarity, defined processes, and clear business benefits.

Capturing “AI-Curious” traffic:

While interest in their services was high, there was no structured, SEO-optimised gateway to capture heads of operations who were interested in AI but hesitant to commit. The site needed to convert vague curiosity into highly qualified leads.

Productising the entry point:

Prospects needed a low-friction way to test the waters before committing to a full-scale build. The digital strategy required a clear, productised entry point: a paid diagnostic “scan” of a prospect’s business; to act as the primary top-of-funnel conversion tool.

Ultimately, the goal was to build a digital presence that drove high-value, highly targeted business while cementing the company’s status as an industry authority.

The solution:

To address these challenges, we designed and developed a digital platform that positioned the client as the definitive authority in practical, secure AI deployment. By stripping away agency jargon and focusing on operational realities, we transformed the website into a robust sales tool.

One of the key considerations was to ‘humanise’ the brand and website. As a brand new business, they didn’t have the breadth of clients to enable a photo shoot, so carefully chosen stock photos were used to show the collabarative nature of their approach.

To visually anchor the brand’s unique positioning: where deep operational strategy meets cutting-edge technology; we introduced a digitised chess piece as a core brand element. The chess piece immediately communicates intellect, calculated planning, and long-term business strategy, positioning the team as trusted advisors rather than just developers.

In a market flooded with abstract tech graphics and generic AI imagery, the branding along with stock imagery provided a grounded, authoritative aesthetic. It reinforced the message that their process isn’t about chasing trends, it’s about making deliberate, high-impact tactical moves that protect data and drive ROI.

The results:

The launch of the new digital platform completely repositioned the company, transforming their digital presence from a passive destination into their most effective business development asset. By aligning the brand’s visual identity with its operational authority, the site began attracting the high-value clientele the company needed to scale.
